Perfection In Gas Fireplace Logs

One of the most popular items on today’s fireplace market is gas fireplace logs.  These logs give you a realistic fire that produces heat to warm your home.  Because they are so realistic, many people are eliminating wood from their lives and installing gas logs in their existing fireplaces.  They are so maintenance free that they are fast becoming the choice for people who are sick and tired of hauling in wood and cleaning up the mess.  Even if you don’t have a fireplace, you can purchase freestanding gas stoves and gas fireplace units that can be attached to the wall.  So, in any situation, gas heating is becoming more popular day by day.

If you have taken the plunge and decided to go with a gas fireplace, keep in mind that you have two choices:  Vented gas logs and ventless gas logs.  Both of these choices have there own unique features and you need to be aware of them so that you can select the type that works best for you.  No matter how you go, you won’t be sorry that you have changed the way you heat your home.

Vented gas logs are just that.  The hazardous gases they produce are pulled out of your house.  They look like real fire because they emit a yellow flame.  You can use either propane or natural gas in them.  You will need to install a venting system so that the dangerous gases travel outside, either through your existing chimney or through venting tubes in the wall.  If you burn vented gas logs in your existing fireplace, it is of the utmost importance that your chimney is clean and in good working order.

Ventless gas logs produce a very hot blue flame that provides almost complete fuel combustion.  Because of this feature, they emit much less carbon monoxide and soot.  The thing you need to keep in mind is whether or not they are allowed in your location.  Often, city and state ordinances forbid them.

You will obtain great satisfaction by using either type of gas fireplace logs rather than wood for heating your home.  Your family will spend more time at home if it is comfortable and inviting.  Their personalities will “warm” up just as the temperature in your home warms up!
